“Reputational Risk” – Brand management is something Joanna is increasingly asked to advise on when working with organisations


Expert witness work – Joanna now works as an expert witness to the courts


Joanna continues to act as an advisor to Cafcass and Home-Start UK. 


Joanna continues to act as a safeguarding advisor to a number of private organisations and charities. In this role she advises them on their safeguarding policies, procedures and training, delivers training, supervises the safeguarding leads for the organisations and advises on complex cases.


Joanna’s second book was published in 2015 - “Practical Guide to Child Protection. The Challenges, Pitfalls and Practical Solutions" which focuses on the common themes from serious case reviews, including neglect, disguised compliance and risk factors. Click here for details. It has been described as “One of the best books on child protection for many years”.

The second edition of her first book “Conducting the Home Visit in Child Protection" has been described as "A book of fabulous knowledge, not just for social workers". Click here for details. 
Joanna is shortly to start work on a contribution to another book. She is writing a chapter on emotional neglect.


Joanna continues to be a national commentator on issues to do with child protection, neglect, child safety, obesity in children and social work. She is a regular contributor across the BBC, ITV, Sky, the Guardian, Community Care and LBC.
